Music and worship are an important part of every believer’s life, as well as the NT Church. Music and worship belong to the people of God. Music can be instructional, a source of healing, deliverance, victory, revelation, and revival. Join us for part 1 of our series on the power of music.
Music has always existed in heaven. In Genesis 4 we have an account of the Father of stringed instruments and pipes and the beginning of worshipping God by Name. Music is spiritual, it bypasses the intellect and feeds/impacts/influences our spirits.
Worship brings intimacy with God, like with King David in the sheep fields, and gives us boldness on the field of conflict like with Goliath.
We get to know the Lord by worship, because He is King. Worship develops our heart In the Lord, our intimacy with Him.
Psalm 119 records King David using songs to record instruction. He Uses the Word of God and it’s decrees as themes for his songs.
David developed His heart in the Lord through worship, meditating on God’s covenant with Him. This produced the boldness that when faced with Goliath on the field of conflict. His relationship with the Lord was so strong from worship. Our worship makes us bold as well, and causes us to hate wickedness, Psalm 119:53
Psalm 28 shows us that music and song is also a response just to the goodness of God. When God is our shield and strength, and helps us, it fills our heart with joy and we spontaneously break out into song. Miriam did that on the banks of the Red Sea….’I will sing unto the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously, the horse and rider thrown into the sea. The Lord my God my strength my shield has now become my victory.’
God sings song of deliverance over His people, because He loves us and still has a ministry of setting the captive free.
