Godly men and women make provision for God’s people to enter into worship. As an old man, King David established structure with the Levites to provide music and worship for God’s people after he passed. In addition, King David passed his heart of worship on to His son, Solomon who wrote over 1,000 songs. Worship is designed to be generational. We live lives of praise and worship, teach our children to live this way.
When Solomon ruled Israel, He ruled with supernatural wisdom. The Bible records that his wisdom allowed Israel to live with peace along it’s borders.
It is the same with us today. When we live in wisdom and allow the Lord to help us live wisely and at peace with others, we can experience and live in God’s supernatural peace in the borders of our mind, heart, families, churches and even nation as we press into prayer, wisdom and living according to God’s commands.
The people of God are called to bring forth the Presence of God which is the kingdom of God. It is not a political government, but a kingdom in which Jesus is Lord and His people live in peace. The Bible says when we pray for our leaders, 2 Timothy1:17 and worship God, we can live in peace and in His Presence. In the New Testament, we see the birth of Jesus ushered in by praise and worship and music, no doubt.
The angels appear in a great heavenly choir or group and announce His birth. Anna and Simeon were at the temple praying and worshipping daily, in anticipation of His arrival. Just like we prepare the way for Jesus to come into our situation or church service by our praise. Jesus’s birth not only was ushered in by worship, but He also lived a life of worship Himself, as the Son of Man. In His response to the adversary, He told the devil that He would never worship anyone but God. Jesus spent many years praying and worshipping before He was ever released to teach at the age of 30. That will be the same for you and I, as the Lord prepares us as well, like He did King David, in the Shepherd field, or Jesus His Son, in prayer, worship and intimacy with Him, for years and years, LONG BEFORE ever releasing us to public ministry. Worship is intimacy with the King. We minister to the King first and then everything we minister to people, flows from that. Jesus lived a life of worship because He loved His Father and wanted to hear Him and always be near to Him. And He knew that worship put Him in God’s Presence daily. Psalm 100:4.
During Jesus’s ministry, Jesus defended the worship of God’s people. When He arrived in Jerusalem on palm Sunday, He defended the right of the people to sing and shout Hosanna, saying that even the rocks would do it, if they did not. The Presence of God, the reality of Jesus, still illicit's spontaneous worship and song to break out in God’s People. Jesus is truly wonderful! He defended the prayer and worship of God’s temple by overturning money changing tables.
Jesus’ disciples continued to worship and sing and make music to Him after He went back up to heaven. In Acts 2, they are worshipping and in one accord, and the Holy Spirit is poured out in power according to Joel 2. In Acts 13 the New Testament Church is again meeting in prayer and worship and the Holy Spirit speaks to set aside some for a special work.
And so we see another result of our worship being direction or insight or REVELATION from Him.
