We finish our series on ‘Music, the power that Moves us' by finishing ministering on the power of music to revive us individually and corporately. Individually music and the praise of God keeps us revived unto our PURPOSE and calling in Him. It helps keep our spirits and hearts attuned to Him and His movement in our lives, as well as keeps us alive to Him and our purpose.
God will move on all of His people with NEW SONGS. Even if we are not called into formal worship ministry, He will give each of us new songs to hum and sing as we go along our way, or as we minister to others. New Songs help us communicate and pinpoint the NEW things God is saying and Doing. Churches and ministries NEED to press into NEW music in order for the Lord to advance us as God’s people. In the last days where things are ‘not as before’ it takes the new sounds and lyrics to pierce the darkness and press the people of God into the plan and purposes of God for this time and hour.
As we segue to our new series, ‘Jesus loves the local church’ we look at the introduction of the New Testament Church on the day of Pentecost. We see how the local church is God’s heart for people. A place where the orphan can find family, the hurt can be healed, and men and women can find their place and space of service in the kingdom. No two churches are the same. All are unique and loved by Jesus.
You and I ARE the local church. It is much like marriage, where we can not speak about ‘the Church’ without realizing we are speaking about ourselves! Just like when we say something about our spouse, we are also commenting on ourselves.
Local church is the entity that exists between God and the people at the church. It is about relationship and each playing a role and interacting one with another. The Holy Spirit is the great intercessor of the Church. The Presence of God keeps us all within the bounds of love, the Word keeps us all within the confines of righteousness and knowledge of God.
We look at all of the varieties of five fold gifts Jesus gave the church in Ephesians 4, Prophet, Apostle, Pastor, Teacher and Evangelist. We see examples of pastors like James and Timothy, Apostles like Paul and evangelists like Philip. We see how Pastors are designed to lead the local church. All five fold gifts submit to the office of the pastor in the local church. We see how the role of the pastor is to feed the flock the Word, to be protection against deception and to be an overseer of their souls. We see how there is a church and place and space prepared for each of us. NO sheep is left out. God has prepared a church for each believer and each believer for a church. There are some functions of the life of a believer that we cannot walk out, like fellowship, encouragement and correction that we cannot do outside of the local church.
The local church is the ‘push back’ against darkness in the town/region and the NET for the Harvest.
Join us in our next segment as we continue to look at the local church and how we each are designed to interact with them uniquely depending on our calling, purpose and personality and gifting.
