Join us for Part 1 of our series on supernatural recompense.
When God speaks to us about destiny, adversity will follow. But God never allows these attacks or obstacles to have the final say. He CAN and WILL reverse them and recompense us, most of the time having to use the supernatural on behalf.
In Mary’s life, she said yes to the call of God on her life, which was immediately followed by her husband-to-be deciding to secretly divorce her. Obstacle. God responded by given Joseph a supernatural encounter with Gabriel, for the sake of the call on Mary’s life. God did the supernatural on behalf of Mary’s heart and call that she had said yes to.
The life of Joseph in the Old Testament is our favorite teaching ground for God’s supernatural recompense. Joseph was already acquainted with a difficult family situation, being raised in a home with two mothers, and his dad’s favoritism causing a rift between he and his brothers. God comes to Joseph and reveals his destiny. Joseph, is excited and probably hoping if his brothers know that He is important to God, will maybe think twice about rejecting him, taunting him. But it is the opposite. They are even more infuriated and decide to kill him. God intervenes and decides trafficking is just as good and sell him down the river to Egypt.
He is set up well in Potiphar’s home and then experiences a second betrayal by Potiphar’s wife. Now he is having to navigate his life with his own brothers betraying him, and a female as well. He is getting rejected by both genders. That happens to many of us. None of us get a free pass when it comes to avoiding obstacles. All of us must walk our destinies out on the earth with an adversary, but all of us have the ability through God to overcome them. He is a God of the supernatural.
God intervenes again by keeping his hand on Joseph and then giving the cupbearer a dream. That is God’s plan for Joseph’s exit from prison. When that fails, it is betrayal number three for Joseph, and stops God’s plan A. But God is a finisher God, in Philippians 6, God finishes what He starts. He has a plan A, Plan B, and Plan C. and He wants us to know that He is:
OUR FATHER and when things go wrong, especially on the way to our destiny,
He CAN do something supernatural for us and
He WILL do something supernatural for us.
How disappointed Joseph must have been who had already anticipated being released that next day or week. God was disappointed, I am sure. But God knows how to heal and walk us through our disappoints as well just like He did Joseph.
The next and Joseph’s last two years were productive and different than the previous years. Joseph walked them out with an even greater sense that ‘any day’ he would be in his destiny. He had contacted one of the people he would be serving with/over, the cup bearer and God used these last few months in prison to help Joseph mentally prepare that when he stepped into the palace, he would have to be able to navigate and manage people that sometimes did the right thing, and sometimes didn’t.
God does the same for all of us. God will use the delays, and always plan His next intervention on our behalf. Joseph had to be completely healed and prepared and ready to go when God called Him out the second time, because he was going to be hitting the ground running, managing a national crisis.
God prepares us perfectly for the people He has called us to serve under. The leaders He attaches us to supernaturally, are leaders that we have been prepared for. We have had to weather, walk through, and overcome the exact type of obstacles that will perfectly and completely prepare us to be the best servants/assistants to them on many different levels.
The Father wants us to remain joyful, passionate, and ENGAGED in His purpose for our lives. He wants us ‘all in’ and keeping our eyes and heart on HIM and HIS WORD/promise to intervene, heal, restore, and then recompense us past where we would have been, had the attack not happened.
